Utility Worker

POSITION: Utility Worker
SALARY RANGE: $49,064 to $65,751 per year DOQ with full benefits
DUTIES: Installs, services, and repairs the District’s water and sewer facilities; repairs water and sewer line leaks, flushes water systems, operates vacuum jetting truck to clean out manholes and plugged sewers; installs valves, sets meters; services, installs, and repairs hydrants, taps water and sewer mains for new connections and cut ins for new water mainline construction; repairs curbs and sidewalks; maintains and repairs water and sewer lines, sewer lift and water pump stations, roadways and other District-owned buildings and property; locates other utilities for job completion. Restores work area to original condition.
REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or GED. Experience in utility maintenance or water and sewer industry preferred. Valid Washington State Drivers License and proof of automobile insurance. Flagger card, first aid/CPR and AC Pipe Certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire, Class A CDL within 18 months, air brake and tanker endorsement within 2 years. Must be available for “on-call” rotation and 24-hour call-out for emergencies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are primarily performed outdoors with extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time. Employee risks physical hazard from mechanical and electrical equipment, confined spaces, traffic, and exposure to noise, gases, fumes, human waste, and chemicals. Physical effort is required to perform very heavy manual labor. Regular lifting in excess of 50 pounds is required.
