Special Education Teachers
TERM: 2021-2022 school year, with contracted days to be calculated based on hire date
SUMMARY: The special education teacher provides instruction for students who are enrolled in special education programs while creating an engaging, nurturing, and safe learning environment that allows students to develop their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. A special education teacher provides intervention and supports in academics, future ready skills, knowledge, and dispositions to be compassionate, lifelong-learners, and contributing citizens in a rapidly changing world. A special education teacher follows the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) procedures and completes compliant paperwork to support students with disabilities in the educational settings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree in Education
* Valid ND Teaching License with special education endorsement
* Strong background in positive behavioral supports
* High interest in serving students with complex behaviors
* Prior experience working with special education students
* Effective communication skills both expressive and receptive
* Ability to reason, interpret, and analyze information to generate new knowledge and understanding
* Adept at problem-solving, resilient when faced with challenges, and skilled in planning and organization
* Ability to work well with others, resolve controversy and conflict through respectful negotiation, and accept constructive feedback
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strategist or ED endorsement
* Experience working with diverse populations
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education, the minimum starting salary for this position is $38,423 for 188-day contract, following the 2021-2022 Teacher's Salary Schedule. In addition, WFPS District funds the entire 11.75% employee contribution to TFFR, as well as the 12.75% employer contribution.
