Washburn Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech) invites applications for the position of Advanced Systems Technology (Industrial Machine Mechanic) Technical Instructor. This is a 10-month, full time, benefits eligible position.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma with two years or ‘4000 hours’ of industry experience as an industrial machine mechanic and/or related military experience as an industrial machine mechanic.
Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree in Industrial Machine Mechanic with two years or ‘4000 hours’ of work experience as an industrial machine mechanic.
Responsibilities
Technical Instructors are expected to be positive role models for students. Instruction shall be based on current state-of-the-art practices, including the potential of online teaching.

Participate in the development, organization, implementation and evaluation of curriculum.

Participate in developing standards for student admission, progression and program completion.

Develop course objectives, content and laboratory experiences.

Collaborate with other technical instructors to implement the course of study.

Teach both theoretical and practical learning experiences.

Select and maintain appropriate materials, audiovisuals and equipment to enhance student education.

Direct, guide and evaluate student performance in a laboratory setting.

Maintain a positive learning environment.

Maintain student records pertaining to the program.

Evaluate each course one teaches and one's own performance in teaching.

Assist in selection, recruitment, retention, evaluation, advising and counseling of program students.

Submit recommendations related to budget and purchases.

Actively participate in professional organizations and advisory committees.

Attend seminars, conferences and workshops.

Develop and maintain working relationships and constructive interaction with other technical instructors, both in the program and across the institution, and personnel of the school, cooperating agencies and community groups.

Serve as a member of committees as assigned.

Perform all other functions necessary for the proper operation of assigned courses.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent fringe benefits package. The successful candidate will be required to provide official transcripts and submit to a background check prior to hire.
