Pastry Chef
A rare and enviable opportunity exists for a highly accomplished professional to implement all elements of daily bakery and pastry production. The selected candidate will provide in-house a high quality, cost-effective product which complements the menus and adds value to the dining services operation.
Requirements
Qualified applicants are required to possess 5 years of experience as a pastry chef. Previous experience with similar responsibilities within a high-end restaurant, country club, hotel or senior living company, is also required. Experience in healthy and wellness cooking i.e. fat free, sugar free, low sodium is required. Prior experience using a Point of Sale (POS) is preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Graduation from a Culinary School or completion of a Pastry program is preferred. Possess or be willing and able to obtain Food Handlers certification, as required
Additional requirements include:
• Advanced working knowledge of all production methods for the preparation of all yeast dough
• Complete knowledge of all baking and pastry products to ensure cost effective purchasing, production and minimal inventory is maintained
• Capable of operating all forms of baking equipment
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and use a Point of Sale (POS) system
• High school diploma or GED required, Graduation from a Culinary school or completion of a Pastry program preferred
• Possess or be willing to obtain Food Handlers certification, as required

- Bring life to your career scheduling of staff and assists with interviewing, hiring, training, correcting, evaluating and supervising staff.
- Supervises assigned dining room and meal service.
- Completes assessments of residents' nutritional status according to policy.
- Assures meals and nourishment's are checked for accuracy and pantries are stocked appropriately to meet residents' needs.
- Assists with meal service including event dining such as theme meals, action stations, parties and family gatherings.
- Incorporates fiscal responsibility through the provision of efficient, safe and cost- effective practices.
- Educates staff and resident and/or resident's family on diet and nutrition.
Qualified applicants are required to possess a minimum 3 years of clinical nutrition and state certification in food service sanitation. Back-of-the-house Food and Beverage Operations experience is preferred. Certified Dietary Manager or Registered Diet Technician is required. Associate's Degree in nutrition from an approved course for Dietary Managers is required. Bachelor's Degree in nutrition from an accredited college or university is preferred. Must possess a valid and current driver's license, where applicable.
