Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Licensed Behavioral Health Professional (LBHP) provides support, coaching, and instruction to the Child Care Staff to assist them in creating and maintaining a therapeutic environment and to assist in their professional development. The Therapeutic Supervisor also:
- Provides guidance and instruction to the Child Care Professionals in the use of therapeutic behavioral interventions that are grounded in TCIT, trauma theory and other best practices models.
- Helps to ensure that specific behavioral interventions and strategies outlined by the treatment team, and detailed in a client's ICMP, Safety Plan and treatment plan are consistently carried out by the Child Care Professionals.
- Assists supervisors, assistant supervisors and lead staff to support consistency and implementation of daily routine and procedures in order to sustain a safe therapeutic treatment environment.
- Evaluates the goal progress of each child through the collection and analysis of data.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets with the Residential Management Team (RMT), Unit Supervisors, Social Workers and Nurses to evaluate and plan for therapeutic treatment programming within the residential program.
- Works with the Unit Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors to assess child care staff's skills and competencies, and to develop Professional Development Plans when needed to improve their performance.
- Develops and coordinates skill building and safety planning groups in order to assist with the development of skills.
- Leads, models for child care staff, and supports the daily activities of the children in accordance with current standards of therapeutic treatment of children and the philosophy and mission of St. Catherine's Center for Children.
- Attend all house management meetings, staff meetings, direct care planning meetings, and treatment planning meetings as needed, for assessment and planning.
- Provide feedback to the treatment team and House Supervisors on the effectiveness of behavioral interventions and strategies.
- Attends House Management Team (HMT) meetings on a weekly basis to support, develop and maintain the therapeutic environment in each residential living unit.
- Assists Child Care Professionals in crisis intervention in the residential living units for children requiring intensive support in their daily programming.
- Maintains good working relationships with agency colleagues, families and representatives from other organizations.
- Participates in the general upkeep of the physical environment.
- Attends all required agency training (e.g. New Employee Orientation, HIV/AIDS) as directed.
- Attend, successfully complete, and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training certification.
- Additional position-related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the supervisor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree required.
- Clean and valid NYS driver license.
- Minimum of two years of experience working directly with special needs children and their families.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours.
