Housing Specialist
The Housing Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance to case managers to successfully house homeless families. This position supports and facilitate families' ability to participate in an active housing search. The Housing Specialists will coordinate service delivery to families through a large network of area service providers to help them secure permanent housing. This is a part time position - 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
- Assess family's housing needs to ensure families are referred to appropriate housing based on their strengths and needs
- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with families, maintaining appropriate personal boundaries; establish and maintain professional working relationships with staff members in accordance with all agency procedures, policies and practices.
- Meet with families to assist them with their housing search; follow up with families and/or service providers as needed to ensure housing goals are being accomplished; act responsibly in providing information and empower consumers to identify choices in their lives.
- Network with other community agencies to enable families to secure the resources that they need to establish their home.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- BSW or Bachelor’s Degree in human service field. An Associates of Arts may be substituted at the discretion of the Director of Marillac along with 5 or more years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience.
- One year of relevant experience preferred.
- Clean and valid NYS driver’s license.
