Early Head Start Education Coach
The Early Head Start Education Coach will provide coaching and other support for Home Visitors based on the Practice Based Coaching framework for ensuring high quality home-based practices and strong child outcomes. The Early Head Start Education Coach will develop relationships with Home Visitors and will develop coaching plans to drive effective Home Visiting practices. This position provides direct support to instructional and administrative staff, and coaches Home Visitors in the planning, implementation, and use of program approved instructional and assessment strategies for early learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
60%: Coaching and Mentoring Staff
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for Home Visitors to enhance and enrich home visiting skills
- Visit socialization classrooms, observe Home Visitors, and provide feedback to improve and enhance instruction and student learning
- Support Home Visitors in setting goals that support improved instruction
- Model best practices in instruction to build home visitors instructional skills
- Support Home Visitors in the use of data to guide instruction and improve learning for each student
- Implement instructional and assessment strategies that honor gender, language, culture, ethnicity, special needs and diverse learning abilities
- Respond to program and or home visitor related inquiries to resolve issues, provide information, and improve student learning
- Plan, develop, and present professional development classes and workshops for teachers, community early-learning providers and support staff using a professional learning community model
- Other duties as assigned
20%: Monitoring and Compliance
- Monitor implementation of early learning instructional practices and strategies
- Gather, compile, analyze, and report findings to assess quality improvement
- Work closely with the Early Head Start Manager to ensure the program is meeting Head Start Performance Standards for home base services
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and updating of essential reporting, record-keeping and monitoring systems that track compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and EdC Early Head Start service plans
- Track progress toward fulfilling outcomes, school readiness goals, objectives, and reaching organizational goals
- Perform in-home and on-site observations, consultations, and one-on-one coaching sessions with the Early Head Start staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
20% Learning and collaboration
- Attend meetings and professional development classes to stay current with early learning trends, practices, and research
- Participate in a variety of meetings and workshops
- Convey and or gather information required to perform functions and to remain knowledgeable of trends and best practices
- Assist in the identification and development of community resources and partnerships to support alignment of early learning programs, including collaboration with community early learning providers and district staff
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or a related field
- Three years of work experience doing home visiting
- One year of work experience as an early learning coach, consultant, mentor, or trainer
- Advanced degree in Early Childhood Education
- Experience working in a Head Start and/or ECEAP program as an Education Coordinator, Manager or Center Director
- Knowledge of a birth-to-three curriculum
- Experience working with families who are going through trauma
- Experience working with families who have children birth to 3 years old from diverse backgrounds & communities
Additional Information
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to report to work at scheduled times; position may require some evening scheduling. Work is performed in an office setting. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station and perform detailed tasks involving repetitive arm and hand movements, such as data entry, is essential. Operation of standard office equipment such as a PC/terminal, electronic calculator, copy machine, and multi-line phone system is required. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Verification of fully vaccinated for COVID19 by Sep 13, 2021
- Other required vaccines: TDap, MMR
- Must show a negative TB Test and obtain a health provider statement showing free of communicable diseases
- Cleared Portable Background Check through DCYF
- Must be able to transport self to home visits and off-site trainings and meetings
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is $57,505.92 and is based on the Edmonds College administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 10 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.
