Sno-Isle Libraries is accepting applications for Page positions on a continuous basis. These applications will be considered for no more than 60 days beyond the original submission. Based on the need for positions or the functionality of this posting, we may suspend or discontinue it at anytime.
When a candidate successfully completes the interviewing processes, they will receive an email notification and be placed in a hiring pool as a retained candidate and remain there until a Page position becomes available. It may be one or two months or even longer before a vacancy comes available at the library or libraries you indicated on your application.
This position may include morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours including Sundays. Successful candidate may be required to adapt to future schedule and location changes depending on the library needs.
Job Summary
Performs sorting, shelving, locating, materials movement and library support tasks at a community library to contribute to its effective operation.
Essential Functions

- Provide effective and efficient library support services to include shelving and retrieving materials, collecting and sorting by classification returned materials from book drops and circulation areas.
- Perform basic circulation support duties, other than direct customer service.
- Assist in maintaining the library's shelved materials areas and reading rooms in neat, clean and orderly condition.
- Assist with shelf readings as assigned.
- Assist with general clerical support to include assisting with the operation and maintenance of equipment as well as photocopying and distributing materials.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Duties are considered non-essential and include the following:
- Perform data entry as assigned.
- Train new staff as needed.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops as assigned.
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision
The position reports to the Supervising Public Service Assistant or the building Circulation Supervisor. Supervision of the work of others is not a normal part of the position's work.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The employee is expected to perform or possess the following:
- Basic knowledge of Library District policies & procedures and services.
- Basic knowledge of alpha and numeric systems for arranging library materials as well as automated bibliographic identification at a basic level.
- Ability to communicate, write, and understand English clearly and concisely.
- Customer service skills.
- Organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective interpersonal skills with the public and co-workers.
- Ability to operate relevant computer systems including hardware and software, such as Microsoft Word, electronic databases, e-mail, and internet navigation in addition to other office equipment and security systems.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- No prior library experience required.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to: see, talk and hear; sit, stoop, squat, stand and walk; twist and bend; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and/or balance. An incumbent must regularly lift and/or move objects or materials weighing up to 35 pounds, including transfer of books and other materials from floor level to shelves. May carry boxes of books up and down stairs at some locations.
Incumbents may be required to push or pull carts of books and hand trucks of boxes of books and other materials and frequently stand for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities include sufficient vision to read and recognize numbers and alphabetical characters on books, magazines, other materials, and computer monitors.
