Olympic Internal Medicine, Inc., P.S. is looking for a Medical Receptionist for our very busy Internal Medicine Practice. We are seeking a well-rounded medical receptionist with experience to join our excellent team. Applicants must have 1-2 years’ experience in all aspects of a medical front office with excellent attention to detail. Experience in a primary care clinic is ideal. This position requires multi-tasking ability, being able to work well in a fast-paced environment, and complete understanding of HIPAA laws as they apply to the medical office. Teamwork is essential. Applicant should have strong verbal and written communication skills. We are open Monday-Friday, no evenings, or weekends. Medical Receptionist - OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

The receptionist provides important patient and public relationship the office and on the telephone in a pleasant and courteous manner.   The receptionist is responsible of welcoming patients, scheduling appointments efficiently, triaging phone calls, inputting patient information into the computer, answering patient inquiries, verifying charges and collection payments. 

Duties:

Answering phones:  Triage incoming calls and create electronic messages for the clinical staff in a timely, efficient manner.

Check in patients:  Greeting patients and updating demographic information in the electronic medical record, as necessary. Entering insurance information, collecting copays and collection balances, and entering payments in the EMR. Obtaining patient pictures and scanning required paperwork.  

Scheduling:  Scheduling appointments following each provider’s protocol, this also includes labs and ancillary services. Registering new patients in the scheduling system and mailing new patient paperwork to the patients.

Confirming appointments:  Making sure all appointments receive an automated confirmation call, or manually calling patients, as necessary.

Electronic Medical Records:  Assisting in medical records requests. Providing the necessary medical release forms to the patients and forwarding to other healthcare providers upon request.  Documenting in the record when medical records are released.

Patient Portal:  Processing patient messages received via the Patient Portal.   

Office closing:  Pick up any trash in the lobby. Replace empty water cooler as needed.  Wipe down and sanitize all chairs after 5:00pm when all the patients have left the clinic.  Lock front office doors.  Make sure the coffee pots are turned off.

Knowledge

Medical receptionists should have knowledge in
• Healthcare field and primary care
• Medical terminology
• Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• HIPAA Laws

  • Knowledge of electronic health records

Skills

  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
    • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education

  • High school diploma
