Director of Development (Seattle, WA)
The Director of Development (Seattle, WA) for the Montana State University Alumni Foundation is responsible for securing and stewarding private charitable gifts from individuals, foundations, and other philanthropic entities to benefit Montana State University. The position is remote, with work based in the Seattle area with regular travel to Bozeman anticipated.
Focusing on donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, the DOD works with Alumni Foundation and MSU leadership to secure charitable gifts. Fundraising responsibilities include leading a regional development plan to include discovery, engagement and cultivation of Seattle-area alumni and friends through events and face to face meetings. Regular travel to Bozeman, MT home office is required. This is a one-year contracted position with potential for long-term employment.
Desired candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree, be passionate about the importance of higher education, be highly organized, strong communicators, collaborative and have the ability to motivate MSU friends, volunteers, peers, and donors. Connection to the people and places in Montana is desired. DOD’s are self-starters, possess a high level of professional integrity, and are motivated by setting and meeting goals. Demonstrated success in major and principle gift fundraising, preferably within a university setting is preferred.
