Candidate Qualifications
- A minimum of three years as a principal, head of school, or assistant principal in a public or independent school highly desired.
- Masters Degree, required.
- Successful secondary and/or elementary teaching experience highly desired.
- Experience within a small, community-oriented, K-12 school environment desired.
- Holds, or able to obtain by July 1, 2019, a valid Washington State Principal Certificate (see http://www.k12.wa.us/certification/Administrator.aspx for specifics).
- Residence within the school district will be required for the selected candidate.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to provide instructional leadership in a K-12 setting, with a strong emphasis on student motivation and academic and personal growth.
- Strong leadership skills in facilitating, evaluating, and developing staff members and in promoting a high trust and collaborative team environment.
- Successful experience in developing and implementing curriculum and educational programs, with a particular emphasis on experiential curriculum and programs across all K-12 levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and promote a diverse community of staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to work in a positive, respectful, and welcoming manner with external constituencies including community members, voters, and other school districts.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
- Familiarity with the laws, rules, and regulations governing the operation of public schools.
