Corrections Officer

King County is one of the largest corrections employers in the state of Washington. Corrections officers work at King County's two adult jails:

  • King County Correctional Facility (KCCF), in Seattle.
  • Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC), in Kent.

Job description

As a corrections officer, you will ensure the safety and welfare of adults in detention. We provide ongoing training to help you build further knowledge and skills for a career in corrections.

 

Duties as a corrections officer include: 

  • Monitoring adults in secure detention facilities
  • De-escalating
  • Responding to emergencies
  • Booking adults into detention
  • Release activities
  • Special assignments (investigations, training officers, etc.)
  • Providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment

 

The minimum licensing, certifications, and other requirements are: 

  • A valid Washington State Driver's license
  • 21 years of age by the time of hire
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment background check

 

Applicants with corrections and/or criminal justice experience are the most competitive. To learn more:
