Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager
Summary:
Homage has begun an organizational journey to facilitate a sustained commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work at an organizational level. To assist, Homage is adding a newly created DEI Manager position, a position that will organize and lead the effort to maintain and grow DEI momentum, facilitate transparency, and ensure accountability among all stakeholders with respect to DEI related work at Homage.
Primary duties include advancing DEI initiatives through a combination of administrative support and facilitation tasks, tracking and reporting progress throughout Homage, and supporting external advocacy efforts and community engagement activities. This position will report to the COO and will partner with Human Resources Department and the Senior Management Team to implement DEI initiatives across the organization. This is a full-time, exempt position. Responsibilities include:
Facilitate DEI Communications
- Engage and initiate ongoing and sustained internal and external communications about Homages DEI activities utilizing myriad communication tools and strategies, such as updating communications on Homages website and social media presence, and designing and disseminating internal staff communications;
- Serve as primary contact for DEI inquiries and report staff recommendations and concerns to members of the Senior Management Team with a plan for addressing matters as they arise.
Internal Relations
- Build and sustain awareness about the work of DEI within Homage;
- Solicit interest from staff in leading and participating in DEI projects;
- Coordinate and facilitate DEI training opportunities for all staff;
- Work within Homage Senior Management Team to support equity-focused strategies, engage in advancing Homages race equity (DEI) goals, provide DEI resources available to departments when requested, and to resolve requests for support from managers or staff.
- Facilitate DEI coordination with Homage managers to develop and sustain appropriate tools to center intersectional voices within Homages DEI activities and strategies and ensure that intersectional voices are centered in all DEI-related projects.
External Relations
- Contribute to research and discussion of DEI policy and practice, and provide supplemental information to the Board of Directors;
- Coordinate, develop, and implement organization-wide DEI strategic plans;
- Partner with the COO and Senior Management Team members to support the Board of Director with information, and provide periodic updates to the Board of Directors about DEI work, initiatives and progress.
DEI Reporting
- Maintain Homages DEI work plan, timelines, and evaluation of DEI initiatives; continuously manage, monitor, and update DEI-related work plans as they evolve.
- Maintain a calendar of deadlines/time frames for task accomplishment; keep managers and stakeholders apprised of progress and ongoing strategies.
- Report DEI updates, analyses, recommendations, and progress throughout all Homage; and work with COO/HR to publish progress on DEI initiatives.
Advocacy-Focused Activity Support
- Provide support on advocacy initiatives, gather input and information, and compile and keep abreast of training and community engagement resources to continue to evolve and expand Homages range and access to DEI practices, tools, and strategies.
Ensure that Homages organizational commitment to fight racism and discrimination, and to incorporate equity and inclusion in both the work we do and work environment we create, is at the center of Homages activities. All staff are expected to uphold this commitment and approach their role with a desire to learn and grow in this area and the DEI manager is an important partner in this expectation.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related experience demonstrated through professional or volunteer commitments and by actively participating in diversity & inclusion initiatives.
- Knowledge and understanding of best practices related to access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias, and institutional racism; ability and experience supporting development and implementation strategies to identify and systemically address equity and inclusion issues
- Effective interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and written and interpersonal communications skills.
- Demonstrated experience with communicating effectively across a broad range of audiences, including staff, managers, executive leadership, teams, community partners, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated sound judgment, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
- Bachelors degree preferred or minimum 3 years of equivalent experience.
- Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, surveys, and other communications and social media platforms desired.
