EARLY HEAD START COACH
We are looking for fun, creative individuals with a passion for mentoring and reflective practice to apply for our Early Head Start Coach position. The Early Head Start Coach impacts the lives of the clients we serve by working with our home visiting staff to build their own talents and supporting their professional growth. We are a high quality, home based, early childhood program serving a diverse population of families with children birth to three years old. Successful candidates will be adaptive and able to work with a rich variety of personalities and learning styles, knowledgeable of adult learning principles, and ready to change the future by building relationships with our staff and with our community.
Key work tasks include:
- Visiting socialization classrooms, shadowing home visits, observing Home Visitors, and providing feedback to improve and enhance instruction and staff learning
- Attending classes and workshops to stay current with early learning and home visiting trends, practices, and research
- Plan, develop, and present professional development classes and workshops for Home Visitors, community early learning providers, and support staff, using a professional learning community model
- Assist in the identification and development of community resources and partnerships to support alignment of early learning home base programs, including collaboration with community early learning providers and district staff

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
75%: Coaching and Developing Staff
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for Home Visitors to enhance and enrich home visiting skills
- Visit socialization classrooms, shadow home visits, observe Home Visitors, and provide feedback to improve and enhance instruction and staff learning
- Assist Home Visitors in setting goals that support improved instruction
- Model best practices in instruction to build home visit instructional skills
- Support Home Visitors in the use of data to guide instruction and improve learning for each employee
- Plan, develop, and present professional development classes and workshops for Home Visitors, community early learning providers, and support staff, using a professional learning community model
- Assist in the identification and development of community resources and partnerships to support alignment of early learning home base programs, including collaboration with community early learning providers and district staff
- Attend classes and workshops to stay current with early learning and home visiting trends, practices, and research
- Implement instructional and assessment strategies that honor gender, language, culture, ethnicity, special needs, and diverse learning abilities
- Prepare written materials (e.g., reports, instruction, guidelines, etc) to communicate program information, provide written support, document progress, develop recommendations, and evaluate the program
- Develop and maintain effective professional relationships and communication with staff, students, families, and community to create a strong collaborative environment
- Be proficient in Parents as Teachers, ASQ, Child Plus (database), and TS Gold so as to support Home Visitors in their daily work
- Perform other duties as assigned
25%: Monitoring and Compliance
- Monitor implementation of early learning instructional practices and strategies
- Gather, compile, analyze, and report findings to assess quality improvement
- Work closely with the Early Head Start Manager to ensure the program is meeting Head Start Performance Standards for home base services
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and updating of essential reporting, record-keeping and monitoring systems that track compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and EdCC Early Head Start service plans
- Track progress toward fulfilling outcomes, school readiness goals, objectives, and reaching organizational goals
- Perform in-home and on-site observations, consultations, and one-on-one coaching sessions with the Early Head Start staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or a related field
- Home Visiting experience - one year
- Experience working with diverse staff
- Knowledge of adult learning styles
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in Early Childhood Education
- Knowledge of a birth-to-three curriculum
- Experience working with families who are going through trauma
- Experience working with families who have children birth to three years old from diverse backgrounds and communities
Additional Information
COMPENSATION
Salary is $57,759.89 and is based on the Edmonds CC administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 10 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.

Before Starting Work:
- Submit paperwork indicating negative TB Test or clear chest x-ray within one year of hire date
- Show proof of Tdap booster vaccination
- Show proof of MMR (measles) vaccination
- Submit proof of a cleared Portable Background Check from the Washington State Department of Early Learning (NOTE: if you do not have a current PBC, you must first create an account in the DEL's MERIT system by clicking here. The fees for obtaining a PBC are your responsibility. The entire process of obtaining a PBC takes 3-4 weeks. You may not start working until we have a copy of your cleared PBC.)
- Submit proof of US Citizenship or ability to work in US (must show original social security or Alien Registration Card/Work Permit, as well as one piece of picture identification)
- Completion of all pertinent personnel/payroll forms
- Submit official education transcript(s) showing employee meets the educational requirements of the position
- Signed statement by a health provider that the employee is free from communicable diseases and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
- Successfully complete a nine-month probationary period (classified positions only)
- Keep all certifications and clearances in current status
- Complete 15 hours of Professional Development Training each year
