Position Description
The Applications division of Seattle Information Technology is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Data Integration Developer position. As a Data Integration Developer, this position will support, maintain, and develop applications to provide or consume data across the City's enterprise and departmental applications. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in integrating data from various source systems and solid experience in application development. This position will report to Data Integration manager.
Note: Position is eligible for overtime/compensatory time paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours worked over 40 in a work week.
Job Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and develop data integration applications, databases, and ETL packages;
- Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to the City's enterprise IVR applications and play a key role in implementation of the Unified Communications project;
- Provide IVR consulting services and recommendations for optimizing call flows, reducing customer service call volumes through automation;
- Work closely with the Business Intelligence Support and Data Services teams within the Applications Division;
- Perform analytical, technical and application development tasks; design and develop applications to integrate with various platforms;
- Coordinate, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot all applications in support of applications maintained and supported by the Data Integration Team;
- Work with clients to understand, develop, design, build and maintain applications to fulfill business requirements and to keep existing processes operating smoothly;
- Comply with Seattle IT's configuration management and version control standards and policies;
- Create, maintain, and update application technical and user documentation;
- Create project plans, specifications, and operating procedures; assist with development of project estimates; and implement enhancements or modifications to applications to meet system requirements;
- Provide technical advice and support to staff and the Data Integration Team;
- Communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with the customers on technical and business requirements and tasks
- Perform additional duties corresponding with the IT Professional B level
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Note: Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for the required qualifications.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math, (STEM) or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- In depth experience as an analyst-developer on various technologies in a large project environment, including client /server applications, relational databases, web-based applications and data warehouse applications, primarily using Visual Studio as the preferred IDE (typically 3 + years)
- Experience developing .Net applications and/or services, C#, ASP.NET, etc.
- Proficient with SSIS packages that connect cross-database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server).
- Working knowledge of creating customer facing output using SSRS and designing the underlying datasets required.
- Experience writing complex SQL in a RDMS.
- Experience with modern web development practices and libraries including: JavaScript (i.e. JQuery, Angular), MVC, HTML5.
- Experience working with web services and hosting APIs using technologies such as SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, XSD.
- Experience working with a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including participation in the entire process from requirements gathering through implementation, testing and closeout
- Establish strong working relationships with coworkers, customers, project team, vendors and across all levels of the organization
- Ability to convey technical details to non-technical staff and customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor content and delivery based on the target audience, possessing excellent technical and business writing skills
- Ability to prioritize and complete technical tasks with minimal instruction and supervision
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong business and work ethics
- Must be a self-starter who works independently and as part of a professional technical team
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with Java EE / J2EE and Eclipse.
- Experience with version controls and change management systems such as Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS), Azure DevOps, Team Foundation Server (TFS), SubVersion, Git, etc.
- Knowledge of how to use PL/SQL to query Oracle through ODBC/OLE DB connections in .NET as well as SQL Developer.
- Experience working in and developing applications in an Active Directory environment
- Ability to work with SQL Server Analysis (SSAS) Services.
- General knowledge of routers, telephone switches, mobile/radio communications, and other telecommunications equipment.
