Paratransit Operator

$17.90/HR plus benefits ($16.05/HR up to 45 Days Training)

This work involves operating a passenger van and providing associated assistance activities involving the local transportation of senior and disabled citizens. The work is performed under the supervision of the Paratransit Operations Supervisor.  Drivers may receive pre-arranged transportation assignments or respond to radio transmitted calls describing transportation/assistance activities. Successful completion of a City-paid medical evaluation is a condition of employment. Extensive background checks including a Homeland Security background check will be conducted.



  • Applicants must be insurable under the City's special policy regarding this position, i.e., must be twenty-one (21) years of age on or before the filing date closes and have an excellent driving record.



  • Eligibility on the current Paratransit Operator register expires on or before 8/23/2018 per Civil Service Rule 2.12.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Washington State Driver License prior to employment.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain, a State of Washington Commercial Driver License (CDL) with the necessary endorsements as prescribed by law, within 30 days of being notified of the need for a CDL to meet operational requirements.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a DOT physical as prescribed by law within 30 days of being notified of the need for a CDL. The DOT physical must be valid for a period of no less than 90 days.
  • Submit to pre-hire and periodic driving/accident record check.
  • Submit to additional screening prior to appointment to this position including an employment and general background investigation.
  • Submit to a pre-employment medical examination and drug testing and obtain a minimum12-month certification from a medical examiner.
  • Requires submission to the City of Everett's random Drug and Alcohol policy pursuant to Federal Department of Transportation regulations.


Parking Enforcement Officer

$3540 - $4302/month plus benefits

An employee in this class perform fieldwork in connection with the enforcement of parking codes, and issues traffic tickets for infractions of the various city ordinances governing parking.  The duties include considerable public contact answering questions on regulations, directions and locations.



  • Requires high school graduation or equivalent



  • Valid Washington State Driver License within 30 days of hire
  • Submission to an extensive background investigation which may include, but is not limited to the following: FBI record check, financial records, previous employers, friends, relatives, neighbors (past and present), and polygraph (lie detector), psychological and medical examinations, drug testing, and fingerprinting.
