Lead Prosecutor
The City of Bothell is looking for an enthusiastic and charismatic trial lawyer and committed public servant to fill its Lead Prosecutor position. The successful candidate will be an accomplished prosecutor who is skilled at building and making a legal case and has high level legal research, analytical, persuasion, and communication skills. The Lead Prosecutor will be able to comfortably navigate a high caseload in a potentially adversarial and stressful work environment. This individual will be a leader who enjoys directing, providing guidance, and developing other lawyers or legal staff.
The Lead Prosecutor reports to and represents the City Attorney. The Legal Department has seven staff members that also include a Deputy City Attorney, Legal Assistant, Paralegal, Prosecutor, and Domestic Violence Victims Coordinator. The Prosecution Team led by the Lead Prosecutor is responsible for handling criminal violations, defending the City on appeal of criminal misdemeanors, prosecuting drug forfeiture cases, and advising/training City of Bothell Police Department staff and officers.
The salary for this position is $102,552 to $130,392 per year and a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, various public retirement options including a deferred compensation match, sick leave and vacation leave.
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree required; AND five (5) years of legal practice and trial court experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License And Certification Requirements
Licensed by the Bar to practice law in the State of Washington. Must remain active with all Washington Bar annual requirements and maintain a clear criminal record. Washington State Driver's License is required.
