Instrument & Electrical Mechanic
Andeavor Anacortes Refinery is currently seeking to fill the following positions at its Anacortes Refinery.
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
An Instrument and Electrical Mechanic is required to understand the fundamentals of industrial control and low/medium voltage electrical systems. The Instrument and Electrical Mechanic must possess the knowledge and skills to safely perform instrument and electrical maintenance functions including but not limited to, electrical and pneumatic instrument troubleshooting, repair of instruments, control valves, electric motors and their control centers.
Instrument Technician – Performs troubleshooting and repairs on variety of electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems, including control valves, positioners, and transmitters, etc. The applicant will also be expected to work on a variety of electrical systems and equipment, 120VAC and higher
Electrician – Performs troubleshooting and repairs on industrial, commercial, and residential electrical systems. Must be proficient with electrical diagrams, codes and standards, and have experience with three (3) phase motors, motor control center and switchgear, 120v -15KV electrical systems, UPS and battery charging systems, etc. Will also be expected to work on a variety of low voltage electronic/pneumatic/digital control systems.
Position Description
Employee uses hand and power tools such as electrical, electronic and pneumatic test equipment, application specific test equipment, e.g.: electrical analyzers, heat trace control software, multi-meter, megger, hand held communicators, and also hand tools, e.g., wrenches, cutters, pliers, benders, threaders, screwdrivers, hammers, hacksaws, and files. Operates shop machinery such as power conduit bender, drill press, bench grinder and other miscellaneous machinery.
Properly uses safety materials and equipment such as personal protective equipment, respirators, and air supplied breathing apparatus, aerial work platforms, and other battery or motor operated equipment. Recognizes and properly handles chemical materials, and enters and accesses data from computer systems.
Work Environment
The Instrument and Electrical Mechanic will perform these functions in various environmental conditions in the refinery including, but not limited to: indoors, such as shops, offices, warehouses, and other indoor locations; outdoors, such as open areas, covered areas, process units, and other outdoor locations; heights, such as columns, tanks, pipe racks, and other areas; underground, such as vaults, pits, and inside of process equipment and other confined spaces. The position may be exposed to other environmental requirements as well, such as heat, cold, wind, rain, snow and other naturally occurring elements.
Education and Experience
Instrument Technician:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
- A two-year technical degree required
- Two (2) years’ experience preferred
Electrical Technician:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
- 2 years of journeyman level experience preferred
Starting rate will be a minimum of $41.56.
Successful candidates for employment will be required to pass a substance abuse screening (drug and alcohol), physical agility tests, complete a physical exam, and must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) prior to employment.
