The Opportunity: Accountant/Senior Accountant
AWWD is accepting applications to fill an accounting vacancy within the Finance Department. The position will be filled as an Accountant or Senior Accountant depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will perform a wide array of complex accounting activities requiring an excellent grasp of accounting operations and procedures. This individual will also perform various accounting functions as they relate to the daily operations of the Finance Department, research and prepare financial reports, provide back up to other accounting related positions, and prepare for future accounting standards and changes.
The successful applicant will have governmental accounting knowledge including familiarity with: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and applicable budgeting, accounting, and reporting requirements. The applicant will also possess technical savvy, and have the ability to setup internal controls, build reports and prepare financials, all while exercising a high standard of care and industry best practices. The incumbent will be able to field and answer questions, and explain the rules in a way that elicits both confidence and compliance. The candidate will be able to educate, encourage and support other employees of the District who may have a limited background or understanding of accounting.

The pay range for this position, dependent upon the classification (Accountant or Senior Accountant), experience, and qualifications is:
- Accountant -- $29.46 - $39.49 per hour ($61, 284 - $82,128 annually)
- Senior Accountant -- $31.52 - $42.24 per hour ($65,556 - $87,852 annually)
